David Bowie A Reality Tour
David Bowie 's greatest hits live!" reads the sticker on the attractive packaging of this newly released, but recorded back in 2003, two-CD set. And nobody's going to be complaining that the promise isn't delivered, as Bowie – backed by a solid yet flexible band that hits each peak with precision – runs through elegant renditions of his most-pervasive successes. Under Pressure, Rebel Rebel, Ashes to Ashes, Ziggy Stardust, All the Young Dudes: all present and correct.

Like R.E.M.'s recent Live at the Olympia set, A Reality Tour was recorded in Dublin; the crew must come cheap. That, or fans in the Irish capital are simply unbeatable. The latter argument for the recording location is supported somewhat by the accompanying credits: after listing the various musical contributors, the emotionally charged audiences at the Point Depot" are acknowledged. And there's no doubt those in attendance make themselves heard, though such is the high-quality mixing work on this release that their vociferous appreciation is kept at a distance until such a time as a roar is absolutely key
With 33 tracks stretching well over two hours, A Reality Tour isn't exactly suited to single-sitting listening. It's also far from a genuine greatest hits collection, though it certainly does feature a number of Bowie's most-loved songs. But it is a great document of one of the world's most inspirational recording artists – and performers – proving that age can't quench the man's desire to create, communicate and, ultimately, entertain. A maverick talent whose place in the pop annals was assured long ago, Bowie's continuing hunger sets a fabulous example for the up-and-coming could-be-‘Heroes' crowd.

Do you believe in aliens? I do. And I would even more believe in them if I were a child and saw the latest Tilda Swinton’s photoshoot for W Magazine (August 2011 issue). She looks incredible on the images.
The queen of androgyny, Tilda Swinton, who graces the photoshoot for W Magazine 2011 edition, wears plenty of designer pieces. She appears dressed in Salvatore Ferragamo, Blumarine, Céline, Chloé, Zero + Maria Cornejo, Comme des Garçons, Stella McCartney and other brands. But these garments look really weird on the images, and they do look like something created on another planet.
In the interview for W Magazine August 2011 issue Tilda Swinton shares about gender role play, her own style icons and love to men’s clothing.
Tilda Swinton on gender role play: “People talk about androgyny in all sorts of dull ways. Cahun looked at the limitlessness of an androgynous gesture, which I’ve always been interested in.”
Tilda Swinton on her own style icons: “ David Bowie —whom I’ve been orbiting ever since I saw The Man Who Fell to Earth in 1976—and my father, Maj. Gen. Sir John Swinton. They are individuals with whom I share the same planetary DNA.”
Tilda Swinton on her father’s military officer uniforms: “From childhood, I remember more about his black patent, gold livery, scarlet-striped legs, and medal ribbons than I do of my mother’s evening dresses. I would rather be handsome, as he is, for an hour than pretty for a week.”
Tilda Swinton on her friends-designers (everyone from Alber Elbaz to Stefano Pilati to Phoebe Philo): “For someone to know what you need to make you comfortable, they need to know who you are. Having them make clothes for me is like being cooked for by someone who knows what you like to eat.”

MGMT, Duran Duran Cover David Bowie
David Bowie may be keeping a low profile, but his musical descendents are speaking up.
MGMT, Duran Duran, Vivian Girls, and Chairlift round out the eclectic cast behind Repetition: A Tribute to David Bowie, a double album homage to Mr. Ziggy Stardust dropping September 6 via Manimal Records.
Other contributing artists include Devendra Banhart's Megapuss, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, former Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist John Frusciante, and Carla Bruni, the First Lady of France!
On the collection, the big-name acts take on more obscure Bowie tunes (MGMT does Station to Station's "TVC 15" and Duran Duran covers Lodger's "Boys Keep Swinging"), while the Brit's trademark hits are interpreted by smaller, more emerging acts (Brooklyn's A Place to Bury Strangers on "Suffragette City" and California grindcore vets All Leather on "Fame").
The album -- available to pre-order now via Manimal -- will be available on CD, double vinyl LP, and as a download. All proceeds will benefit War Child, an international charity for children affected by war.
