MadgeGaga

The Madonna vs. Lady Gaga feud has been boiling over lately, with Madge including ‘Born This Way’ in a bratty mashup of ‘Express Yourself’ and ‘She’s Not Me,’ in what felt like a catty cheap shot. Gaga responded while performing in New Zealand, refusing to sink to Madge’s level or to dignify it with a direct response, instead claiming that no force can take down the power of the ‘Born This Way’ credo. That’s when we scored the fight in Gaga’s favor, especially since she said she would not be fighting back. Now it seems that Madge may be backtracking.
In a chat with Italy’s Republica — and note, it’s not lost on us that this interview takes place in an Italian publication, since Madge and Gaga both have Italian roots — Madonna responded to the question, “Is Lady Gaga a threat or only another temporary Spice Girl?’ with a positive comment. While her PR rep tried to bring the chat back to tour, Madonna stated, “She is an artist with a great, high level of talent.” (Quotes courtesy of That Grape Juice.)
Those statements have just popped up in the press, but there is no confirmation of exactly when the Material Girl actually said them. If she said them before she created her mashup and before Gaga’s measured response, it’s curious, since her onstage diss is pretty nasty. If she said it after the fact, it seems like the extension of an olive branch.
Let’s hope Ciccone and Germanotta can take the gloves off for good. This is a ripe scenario for a duet. We get goosies just thinking about it.

‘The Glee Project’ Recap: Contestants Asked to Show Dance-Ability, Taryn Quits, Dani Sent Home

Dani

On tonight’s (June 12) episode of ‘The Glee Project,’ the contestants had to show their dance-ability. Unfortunately for Dani, she was sent home. While soulful and artful, she didn’t fit the pop/Broadway mode that defines ‘Glee.’
There was drama from the get-go, as Taryn, who was admittedly shy and nervous, bowed out. She couldn’t cope with the pressure just two weeks in, which suggests that she needs a career change. It was also a tough week, since some of the hopefuls are singers without much dance training.
For their homework assignment, the singers performed ‘We Got the Beat’ by all-girl group the Go-Go’s. Abraham was the victor, and won the prominent role in the music video, which was for LMFAO‘s ‘Party Rock Anthem.’ That’s certainly a song designed for dance-ability.
The video was cute, with the singers party rocking and playing spin the bottle. There was some shuffling, with Blake pretty much taking it. But the producers felt that it was the worst video ever, and they struggled with trying to pick who sucked the least. Ouch.
For the “Last Chance” with Ryan Murphy, the adorably androgynous Dani, who rocks Bieber bangs, sang ‘Landslide’ by Fleetwood Mac, with real vulnerability. Murphy suggested that she is an artist but not a ‘Glee’-like performer, in the Broadway and pop style. She didn’t “sell it.”
Tyler sang ‘Daniel’ by Elton John. He has a difficult time, since he is transgendered and transitioning. With that, his voice is changing. He was better this week than last, but couldn’t dance. The brave things he is doing in his life aren’t translating to the show, according to Murphy.
Lily sang ‘Man, I Feel Like a Woman’ by Shania Twain, and even removed her cardigan, mid-song. She started off slow, but she used her voice and her body to turn in a sassy perf, where she flirted with the band.
Dani was ultimately sent home since, while talented, she doesn’t fit the ‘Glee’ archetype. It’s worth noting that it’s to her credit that she isn’t pop. But it was the fact that she didn’t adapt that did her in.
Here’s a quick breakdown of who did what this week:
Michael: He was a bit quiet.
Dani: She seemed like she was at a house party, waiting for her ride during the vid.
Charlie: He’s crushing on Aylin, since he thinks talent is sexy and she has talent. Romance alert?
Abraham: He won the homework assignment, but faltered in the music video.
Ali: She rolled through in her wheelchair and her energy was better than shuffling.
Mario: He broke down after finding out he was safe.
Shanna: She’s still the frontrunner.
Tyler: His performance aspect isn’t rising to the top.
Aylin: She’s not here for romance.
Nellie: She was snakebitten during the music video.
Blake: He is quite the shuffler.
Lily Mae: She struggled with pitch and timing, despite being trained. She didn’t take criticism well.

Kylie Minogue Has the Blues on U.K. Glamour Cover

Kylie Minogue Glamour U.K. Cover

Kylie Minogue, easily one of the biggest European pop stars ever, has the blues on the cover of the July issue of Glamour U.K. — and boy, do we want what she’s got.
The ‘Timebomb’ singer graces the Women of the Year issue of the women’s mag, looking like a mermaid vision in a form-fitting, lacy blue number that’s a little bit floral and a little bit see-through. It leaves just enough to the imagination, despite covering her assets and her arms.
What really has us enraptured, though, is Minogue’s smile. She could light up a room with that toothy grin. She also has a classic, Old Hollywood glam look, thanks to those waves.
The inside photos are playful, featuring the singer in a crisp white button down, and little else. Again, that infectious smile draws you in.
There are also some naughty images, like the shot of her laying on her side, with a bare back and fishnets with a line a up the back. Her shapely rear end is in full view. She is in tip-top shape. In this spread, it’s what she doesn’t show that makes her mysterious.
Minogue is celebrating 25 years of pop divadom this year. Congrats! You look as young as your anniversary, lady.

The ‘Glee’ Cast Is Participating In Fashion’s Night Out & They Got Their First ‘Vogue’ Spread

The Glee cast may be known for their distinct personalities and bold vocals, but their defined sense of style is what landed them a spread in the September issue of Vogue, where Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer and the rest of the gang can be seen looking glam as ever, totally out of character! While the cast is definitely in high demand, they’ve teamed up to help raise awareness for Fashion’s Night Out!
The cast filmed a PSA for this year’s event, which is set to air on Aug. 24. Along with the public service announcement, the whole cast shot a music video featuring David Bowie’s song “Fashion,” covered by Lea. The video will go live on Vogue.com on Aug. 23 and was directed by Jake Nava and choreographed by Zach Woodlee.
While they’re so excited to get involved with this year’s event, wen it comes to their personal sense of style, it couldn’t be any different from the characters they play on the hit show! “I would never wear a sweater with an animal face!” Lea told the mag, before admitting that lately she’s very into Oscar de la Renta.
As for Chris, while his character is so fashion-forward he admits he was everything but! “When Glee started, I had no idea who Marc Jacobs was. In no way was I a fashion person!” Chris said. “I did all my shopping at my small-town Target. Maybe if I dressed better I wouldn’t have had such a hard time in school,” he says, laughing a little ruefully. “Now, as Kurt, I get to wear all these amazing things, by people whose names I can’t even pronounce.”
Regardless of whether or not you’re a Gleek, there’s no denying the fact that these stars are definitely stylish — both on and off the set of their hit show.
