Thor 2 is now director-less as surprise choice Patty Jenkins steps down from the project over creative differences
After the pleasant surprise that a leftfield directing talent like Jenkins had got the Thor 2 gig a couple of months ago, now comes the news that the director has left the sequel. Creative differences, that catch-all phrasewhich could mean anything from ‘They just didn’t grasp my vision’, to ‘She wanted to set Asgard in a roller rink?!’ have been cited as the reason for Jenkins’ exit.
The upshot of which is that Marvel’s Thor sequel is now director-less. And with Kenneth Branagh telling all and sundry he’s got the superhero blockbuster thing out of his system, it seems unlikely he’ll fill the hole, despite his original Thor raking in shedloads of cash worldwide. So who’s up for the job? Let the speculation begin…
Chris Hemsworth is set to return as the Norse God in the sequel, which has been pencilled in for a November 2013 release, but can be seen swinging his hammer much earlier than that in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, due out in April 2012.
