It may be small when compared with the likes of Glastonbury and Isle of Wight, but the Secret Garden Party, which took place last weekend, remains one of the UK's most popular music festivals.
Now, for those that have been missing out due to being located on the wrong side of the Atlantic, the boutique event's founder is bringing his magic to the East Coast.
Of course there is no plan to cut-and-paste the British experience. Where in the U.S. would one find a Georgian estate with its own lake, after all.
New concept: The founder of the UK's Secret Garden Party festival is to bring his magic to the East Coast with the launch of Escape 2 New York
Due to take place between August 5 and 7 on the Shinnecock Reservation in Southampton, the lineup will include Patti Smith, The Jolly Boys and Of Montreal.
Secret Garden Party founder Freddie Fellowes, who is behind the Escape 2 New York idea said that his mission was to create 'a new concept for music and cultural events in the USA.'
In addition to the music, he promises performance art, experimental theatre and installations, as well as luxury accommodation and 'amazing culinary delights' from the team behind top New York restaurant the Fat Radish.
Beverly Jensen, Shinnecock tribe member and communications director was thrilled that the festival would be taking place on their grounds.
'The Shinnecock Nation welcomes the Escape to New York festival and we are working closely with the festival team to ensure its success,' she said.
Escape 2 New York will take place on the Shinnecock Reservation, Southampton, New York, from August 5-7. For further details visit
