Well, in case you did not recognize him, it was him who played the role of Jareth the king of the goblins in the 1980s movie hit The Labyrinth.
But way before that movie stint, Bowie has already etched a name in the music industry.
Otherwise known as David Robert Jones, David Bowie was bo
rn on January 8, 1947. That date signaled the rise of a rock superstar who, to this date, is still admired is worth emulating.
Apart from being in control of the concert stage for several decades because of his distinct voice, Bowie also managed to conquer and excel as an actor, record producer as a musical arranger. Truly, he was excellent talent personified, won't you agree?
David first made his mark as an entertainer when his single "Space Oddity" landed on the top 5 of the UK Singles Chart. From then on, the rest is history as far as David's career is concerned.
It was in 1975 when Bowie made a successful American crossover when his song "Fame" a song he co-wrote with John Lennon topped the charts. This prompted the name David Bowie become more stellar. There was no stopping him.
Prior to this, specifically in 1972, he repackaged himself through Ziggy Stardust, his androgynous alter ego in connection with his album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" with the carrier single "Starman". Biographer David Buckley even remarked that the move of Bowie to resort to that challenged the core belief of the rock music during those times.
Many things have been said in favor and against David Bowie. But at the end of the today, people will always remember him for the exceptional artist that he is.
He's not just a singer,producer and an actor. He's a legend.
