MadgeGaga

The Madonna vs. Lady Gaga feud has been boiling over lately, with Madge including ‘Born This Way’ in a bratty mashup of ‘Express Yourself’ and ‘She’s Not Me,’ in what felt like a catty cheap shot. Gaga responded while performing in New Zealand, refusing to sink to Madge’s level or to dignify it with a direct response, instead claiming that no force can take down the power of the ‘Born This Way’ credo. That’s when we scored the fight in Gaga’s favor, especially since she said she would not be fighting back. Now it seems that Madge may be backtracking.
In a chat with Italy’s Republica — and note, it’s not lost on us that this interview takes place in an Italian publication, since Madge and Gaga both have Italian roots — Madonna responded to the question, “Is Lady Gaga a threat or only another temporary Spice Girl?’ with a positive comment. While her PR rep tried to bring the chat back to tour, Madonna stated, “She is an artist with a great, high level of talent.” (Quotes courtesy of That Grape Juice.)
Those statements have just popped up in the press, but there is no confirmation of exactly when the Material Girl actually said them. If she said them before she created her mashup and before Gaga’s measured response, it’s curious, since her onstage diss is pretty nasty. If she said it after the fact, it seems like the extension of an olive branch.
Let’s hope Ciccone and Germanotta can take the gloves off for good. This is a ripe scenario for a duet. We get goosies just thinking about it.
